It has been tested on Debian squeeze

In the CUPS administration program, Add a printer
Then select "Other" printer
In the URI box type
socket://10.0.1.12
Then select a printer driver from the database
1. Generic
2. PCL 6/PCL XL LF Printer
Change the source paper from letter to A4
