How to transfer address book from the former to the new webmail platform

At the end of 2008 the webmail is being migrated from Squirrelmail to Horde. However, all addresses defined in Squirrelmail are not automatically migrated to the new platform. This page describes a recipe to do the transfer manually.

1. Login into the former webmail platform (squirrelmail)
2. Click on the Addresses link to the top of the right pane
3. Click on the Export to CSV file button at the bottom (leave the fields intact; default values should work just fine), and save the downloaded file at a safe place
4. Login into the new webmail platform (horde)
5. Select the item Organizing -> Address Book at the left menu
6. Click on the Import/Export icon at the top
7. Select file to import and click on Next
8. At the Import, Step 2 screen change nothing and hit Next
9. At the Import, Step 3 screen, some of the fields were not identified, so you can manually associate the old field names to the new ones. For instance, the alias can be associated with nickname.
10. Hit Next, and you are all set!
